After my couple of days in Brisbane trying to tidy up loose ends and make sure that what was left behind would run smoothly.
Thankfully by sheer luck and good timing I got to see all of my immediate family one last time before I left, courtesy of my brother being on the Sunshine Coast for a wedding the weekend before I flew out. We’ve been based all around the countryside before and we are quite good a keeping in touch but it was nice to be able to see everyone one last time before heading off.
It’s so hard to know what you will need when moving overseas. Most places in Suva come fully furnished however, we had managed to find one that was unfurnished. In some ways it would have been good to bring our stuff over with us, but at the end of the day it’s just stuff and can be replaced without too much hassle.
I left Australia on Wednesday 07 September with 2 suitcases and a bag of tools for Jared for his work. My parents saw me off at the airport and then I was on my way. Thankfully I had already transited in Nadi before so I knew what to expect this time. Unbeknownst to me I had picked to travel on a public holiday which actually worked out well as after he worked in the morning Jared was able to grab some essentials for the house like bed sheets.
As the furniture was still being arranged for the house there was only a bed, rug and washing machine when we arrived that night. The rest was scheduled to arrive the following day. After grabbing some dinner in town as we had nothing to cook with we picked up our new puppy Nero and spent the night settling into the house.
